Plate It Forward fuses passion for food and drink with a social purpose, evolving to serve the needs of those most at risk in the community.
Plate It Forward provides employment, meals and hope to people experiencing food insecurity and social isolation. Through a catering company, restaurant-quality meal donation program, community kitchen and an employment and training school, they support the most vulnerable while building pathways to career and business ownership. Plate It Forward believes food is designed to bring people together, to share stories, to check in on one another and to celebrate being the social creatures we are.
2021 Pitch
Funds Raised: $90,000
Plate It Forward believes in serving social change, one meal at a time. Shaun the Co-Founder, pitched at the TFN Hybrid event in Sydney to provide paid employment opportunities for vulnerable community members, who will be trained to prepare the food delivered back to their peers through the meal donation program.
The Impact
Over the past 12 months PlateitForward has gone above and beyond in response to multiple crises. Thanks to the funds raised at TFN Virtual+, PlateitForward has been able to provide over 70,000 hot and nutritious meals, including for vulnerable people affected by Covid-19, those experiencing homelessness and Afghan refugees from the recent Afghan crisis. At the same time, PlateitForward offered hospitality training and education to marginalised community members.
